In Path of Exile, Ascendancy passive points are a crucial part of the game's progression, giving players the ability to unlock powerful subclass-specific U4GM bonuses and abilities. Every character can choose an Ascendancy subclass once they reach the end of the Labyrinth, and they are granted the option to allocate Ascendancy passive points to enhance their character. However, what happens when you want to change your choices or experiment with different playstyles?

Respec-ing Ascendancy passive points is the process of undoing previous Ascendancy selections and reallocating them to different nodes. This can be useful when you're dissatisfied with your build, want to try a different path, or need to adjust for a recent update or change in your character's needs.

Step-by-Step Guide to Respec Ascendancy Passive Points

The respec process for Ascendancy passive points is slightly different from respec-ing your regular passive tree. While the regular tree can be reset using Orbs of Regret or similar items, respec-ing Ascendancy points requires a more specific approach through the use of the "Token of Regret."

Here’s how you can respec your Ascendancy passive points:

Progress Through the Labyrinth: Before you can respec your Ascendancy points, you need to have already completed the Labyrinth. This requires you to defeat the Labyrinth’s trials and boss encounters. You only get the opportunity to choose an Ascendancy after completing the Labyrinth, and this choice is permanent unless you decide to respec.

Acquire a Token of Regret: To respec Ascendancy points, you'll need a Token of Regret. These can be obtained by completing certain quests or by trading with other players. The Token of Regret is a one-time use item that allows you to undo one Ascendancy point allocation.

Visit the Ascendancy Master: Once you have a Token of Regret, head to the character that offers the Ascendancy respec process. This is usually located in the town hub of the Act. By interacting with the Ascendancy master, you will be given the option to respec your Ascendancy passive points.

Confirm Your New Choices: After using the Token of Regret, you can freely reassign your Ascendancy points to a new set of nodes. Be careful about your selection because respec-ing is a one-time operation per Token of Regret.

Limitations and Considerations

One-Time Use per Token: A Token of Regret only resets one Ascendancy point. If you wish to respec multiple points, you will need to acquire additional Tokens of Regret.

Cost: While Tokens of Regret are not particularly expensive, their availability depends on how far you are in the game, so acquiring many may take time.

Permanent Changes: Once you use a Token of Regret, the respec is permanent for the current character. There is no way to "undo" the respec unless you go through the Labyrinth again or use additional Tokens of Regret.

By following these steps and understanding the mechanics of the respec process, you can adjust your Ascendancy passive points to better fit your evolving character needs.
