Most players only look for the remove option after a name keeps showing up where it should not. Maybe it is an old trading contact, someone who never sends help, or a stranger who joined through a social link. In a Monopoly Go Partners Event, that frustration hits harder because one inactive teammate can take up a spot that active players wanted. The important thing to know is that your friends list and an event team are handled as two separate things.

To remove an ordinary friend, open the Friends area near the bottom of the screen, then switch to the leaderboard. Find the player, tap their name or the small menu beside it, and look for Remove. Confirm it when the game asks. Sometimes the button does not show straight away, especially after an update or a slow sync. Closing the app and opening it again often sorts that out. Removing them clears the friendship connection, but it does not work like a proper block. They can still send a fresh request later, so it is worth checking names before accepting new adds.

What removal changes during team play
Situation What you can change What stays in place
Friends list Remove one player Past gifts and attacks
Before an event starts Leave or rebuild a team Invite limits or timing rules
Live team event Usually nothing Current teammates and progress

That last row catches people out. Removing somebody from your leaderboard does not kick them from a race, partner challenge, or another active group event. If they joined the team and then disappeared, they will usually remain there until the event ends. Their lack of effort is annoying, but the game does not normally hand the team leader a mid-event removal tool. Progress already earned also stays recorded. You cannot reclaim their contribution, undo their place on the team, or replace them with a stronger player halfway through.

The best move is to be picky before the event goes live. Ask players whether they will actually be around, especially if the event runs over several days. Plenty of high-level accounts look useful but barely play. If the preparation period still allows it, leaving and rebuilding the team may fix an accidental join, though it is risky once the timer is close. After the event starts, work with the people who are contributing and save the cleanup for later. When the event is over, remove unreliable names from your list, and only buy Monopoly Go Partners Event Slots if it fits how you plan to build a dependable group for the next round.
